Rigorous management of risk is also essential to IMC. This approach did much to bring us through the turmoil of 2008 relatively unscathed and enhanced our reputation. During this period we increased our global risk team and implemented a program to introduce even more sophisticated risk management tools. The objective is to focus on risk control of exposure to unwanted risks and to create added value by actively managing risk. This will result in preventing unnecessary losses and will result in a higher return by making the right risk return judgments and an optimal allocation of capital.
