Opportunities for internships, student jobs or thesis assignment positions are limited.  However, if we have any such opportunities they will be posted on our up to date vacancy site.

No matching opportunities?  You can create a job alert to be notified as soon as a vacancy that matches your criteria opens.  To create a job alert click here.

  • Is there a closing date for applying to a vacancy?

The closing date varies depending on the vacancy but if there is a strict closing date it will be mentioned in the vacancy details.  Please note that vacancies might also have a fixed start date (e.g. Junior Traders), if this is the case it will also be mentioned in the vacancy details.  If there is no closing or start date mentioned this usually means that recruitment is an ongoing process.

  • Can I apply at other global IMC offices?

Under the Vacancies section on our website, you can view all open vacancies per country.  Select the country and then the vacancy. By clicking on ‘Apply’ you will have the opportunity to submit your details and CV directly to the responsible recruiter. Some of the offices have limited opportunities for international hires because of local law regulations.

  • Do I need to speak Dutch to apply with IMC?

IMC is an international company employing more than 25 nationalities. Our business language is English, therefore we expect all hires to be confident in spoken and written English. For most of our positions Dutch is not a requirement. If it is, it will be mentioned in the vacancy details.

  • Would I be expected to do any tests as part of the selection procedure?

This depends on the type of vacancy you applied for.  Testing is a standard part of the selection procedure for the following two areas:

    Software development
After the first telephone interview, Software developers will be asked to complete a Java Development Test.  The test will be emailed to you and you will have 48 hours (a weekend) to complete it.

    Trading
For Junior Traders and some other positions, tests will be part of the application procedure.
The application procedure for Junior Traders starts with two aptitude tests. If you make it to next interview rounds we will request you to take a mental calculation test and to complete an Occupational Personality Questionnaire.

For more information about these tests, please read the next question.

  • I don’t have a Dutch or European passport. Will IMC apply on my behalf for a work permit, visa or residence permit?

Because of a growing demand for some scarce skills in the Dutch labour market, IMC sometimes needs to recruit candidates from abroad.  If you get hired for one of these vacancies and are not eligible to work in the Netherlands, IMC will apply for the relevant permit or visa for you (and your family). Please note that this is not applicable for all vacancies and that IMC cannot guarantee the approval of such a permit or visa.

  • How do I know if my online application has been received? When can I expect feedback?

Once you have completed the online application form, attached your documents and submitted your application, you will receive an automatically generated email to confirm that your application has been successfully completed.  If you have not received an email it means that your application has not been processed.  Please check the details of your application and make sure that you have completed the full process.

If you are still experiencing problems, please phone IMC reception at +31 (0)20 798 8400 and ask for one of the recruiters.

When to expect feedback can vary from one vacancy to the next.  In general you can expect feedback within 2 weeks but for vacancies with fixed timelines this could be longer, please refer to the vacancy details.

  • I am invited for an online aptitude test (SHL), what does this mean?

In some procedures IMC uses aptitude tests including numerical reasoning and inductive reasoning. These tests are taken online. If you are invited for a test and you would like to know what to expect, you have the opportunity to take a test on the website of our test provider SHL. For an example of these tests please click here.

  • What can I expect of the interview process and when can I expect feedback on my interview / test taken?

In general, you will have to participate in approximately 3 interview rounds.  Depending on your location the first interviews can be by telephone or face-to-face.  The final interview will always be a face-to-face interview at our offices in Amsterdam.

For general vacancies we aim to provide feedback about your interview within 48 hours.
Java Developers can expect feedback on their test results within 3-4 working days.
Interview rounds for the Junior Trader position will take place according to set timelines, which will  be communicated early on in the selection process. In your test invitation you can read more about the timelines in which you can expect feedback on your test results.
