Recruitment FAQs

  • How do I apply for a job at IMC Sydney?

If you see a Sydney vacancy that you find interesting and qualify for, please email careers@imcpacific.com.au with your CV and a cover letter outlining your interest in the vacancy.

  • Can I apply at other global IMC offices?

Under the Vacancies section on our website, you can view all open vacancies per country.  Select the country and then the vacancy. By clicking on ‘Apply’ you will have the opportunity to submit your details and CV directly to the responsible recruiter.  You should be aware that some of our offices have limited opportunities for international hires because of local labour law regulations.

  • Is there a closing date for applying to a vacancy?

The closing date varies depending on the vacancy but if there is a strict closing date it will be mentioned in the vacancy details.  Please note that some vacancies might also have a fixed start date (e.g. Graduate Traders).  If this is the case it will also be mentioned in the vacancy details.  If there is no closing or start date mentioned this usually means that recruitment for the role is an ongoing process.

  • Does IMC Sydney offer internships, summer vacation work or part-time employment whilst I am still studying?

No.  We are unable to offer internships, summer vacation work or part-time employment whilst you are still studying.

  • Would I be expected to do any tests as part of the selection procedure?

This depends on the type of vacancy you apply for.  Testing is a standard part of the selection procedure for the following two areas:

    Software development
After the first interview, Software Engineers will be asked to complete a Java Development Test.  The test will be emailed to you and you will have a specified time period in which to complete it.

    Trading
For Graduate Traders, tests are part of the application procedure.   You should expect
aptitude tests including numerical and inductive reasoning, mental calculation tests and personality profile tests.

  • When can I expect feedback on my application?

When to expect feedback can vary from one vacancy to the next.  In general you can expect feedback within 2 weeks but for vacancies with fixed timelines this could be longer, please refer to the vacancy details for further information.

  • I don’t have an Australian passport. Am I still able to apply for a position with IMC Sydney?

We will consider all applications based on merit; however, it is imperative that you are legally able to work for us before your commencement date.

Generally speaking, we will only accept applications from applicants with citizenship or permanent residency.  In some instances, because of demand for some scarce skill sets in the Australian labour market, IMC may consider applicants who require sponsorship.  In such instances, IMC will apply for the relevant visa on your behalf.  Please note that this is not applicable for all vacancies and that IMC cannot guarantee the approval of any visa.

  • What can I expect of the interview process and when can I expect feedback / results on my interview / testing?

You should expect to participate in approximately 3 interview rounds; however this can vary depending on the vacancy.
For general vacancies we aim to provide feedback regarding your interview either directly to you or the recruiter representing you within 48 hours.
Developers can expect feedback on their test results within 3-4 working days.
Interview rounds for the Graduate Trader position will take place according to set timelines which are communicated to you during the selection process.
