Role Description
We are looking for an experienced Datacenter Engineer who will play a critical role in system and application administration of our technical environment. This role will be part of highly experienced team, and be provided new challenges on a daily basis. Key accountabilities
- Datacenter work – includes installing and configuring IBM, Dell and Sun servers; also installing Cisco equipment
- Server builds – install and configure operating systems on servers, mostly Linux but also Windows machines
- Networking – configure exchange interfaces on servers to comply with integration/traders needs
- Linux and Windows support – install/configure any needed software and trouble shoot logs, errors, etc
- Hardware maintenance – server’s hardware failure (hard drives, memory, Network cards, etc)
- Inventory – keep up-to-date inventory of all our servers in the Americas and the group owner of the servers
- CBOE and CBOT/CME support – configure Tablet PCs for traders on the floor to connect to our environment
- NOC – monitoring servers and network infrastructure to help minimize down time
Technical requirements
- 2-5 years of systems (Windows and Linux) administration
- Ability to work in an extremely fast paced environment
- Ability to work in a team environment
- In depth knowledge of hardware and software support, maintenance, troubleshooting, etc
- Experience in a real time Linux environment
- Knowledge of networking concepts
- Scripting (Perl Bash, Shell, etc) nice to have
- Proficiency with servers – configurations and builds

- Knowledge of Financial Markets (particularly derivatives) is an advantage, and a passion for the industry is essential
