Role Description
The Performance Engineer is responsible for tuning all existing and new networks, hardware, software and other applications, in order to ensure optimal performance of our low latency trading infrastructure.
Key Accountabilities
- Revise Linux kernel to monitor and improve data performance.
- Develop tools to measure performance of trading infrastructure.
- Initiate preventive and corrective measures to ensure optimal performance.
- Collect deep analysis of and report on trading system performance data.
- Identify bottlenecks and potential areas for optimization.
- Provide ongoing ideas, solutions and recommendations for producing stronger trading results.
- Resolve both current & future performance issues to ensure trading is not impacted.
Knowledge and skill requirements
- University degree in Computer Science or relevant experience
- Expert in Linux
- Good understanding of networked systems (TCP/IP, UDP, IP multicast)
- Experience with analysis tools (Wireshark/Ethereal, vmstat, sysstat)
- Good scripting skills (Perl, Python, bash)
- Knowledge of SQL (MySQL)
- Knowledge of Java is a plus
- Flexible, proactive, hands-on mentality, able to work independently in a team setting
