Role Description
You will join a young and highly motivated team of individuals responsible for running our trading software. As a System Integration Engineer, you are in charge of maintaining the performance, availability and security of our cutting edge in-house trading systems. In addition, you are responsible for the integration of software components, exchange interfacing applications and the management of deployments. You will also work with international teams to drive global thinking, information sharing and long term solutions.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure high availability, stability and high performance of our trading platform
- Prioritize, troubleshoot and resolve major incidents in a high pressure environment
- Measure and identify improvements of performance for our trading infrastructure as well as translate trading team requests into concrete performance requirements.
- Work together with traders, software developers as well as IT and network engineers in order to continuously improve systems and processes
- Coordinate, prioritize and plan system upgrades, patches and bug fixes
- Create, maintain and improve necessary supporting documentation
Knowledge and skill requirements
- University degree in Computer Science or similar path of study
- At least 4 years of relevant work experience preferable at a financial institute
- In-depth knowledge and experience with of Linux operating system
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP protocols
- Experience with various ways to deploy java applications as well as good understanding of JVM
- Expert level troubleshooting skills
- Excellent command of bash scripting
- Experience with MySQL querying
- Analytical thinking and ability to adapt quickly to fast changing requirements
- Flexible, proactive, hands-on mentality, able to work independently in a team setting
- Fluent in English
Highly desired skills
- Expertise in various scripting languages (bash, perl and/or python)
- Familiarity with various automation tools (puppet, cobbler, cfengine, etc)
- Experience with tuning MySQL for performance
